Build Some eHow Income
In the past I thought that article marketing meant I had to sacrifice some of my articles for the sake of getting some traffic. You know… post it on EzineArticles and do some mass article submissions.
It wasn’t too long ago when I decided to start taking a different approach. Instead of just using EzineArticles and some mass submissions I want my articles to make me money beyond just the traffic I receive from them.
You saw in an earlier post that I started using HubPages. I didn’t do so well my first month, but my earnings from them have picked up some and I am a bit happier with my progress.
Another place I started submitting articles to is eHow. Now, I know I am a bit late in the game on this. There are others who have been with them a heck of a lot longer than me, but from what i’ve read online you could expect to earn around $1 per article per month. (That is not guaranteed, it is a rough estimate.)
They only pay writers who live in the United States though, so if you live elsewhere, i’d stick with HubPages.
So starting the beginning of August I have been writing how to articles that have to do with my blogs and then I give 3 links to my blog in the resources section. (One link to the home page and 2 links to different blog posts).
I do realize that the links on eHow are no-follow, which sorta stinks, but at least in gives me some traffic, PLUS I can earn money from those articles as well. Adding some extra income streams can’t hurt right?
Plus, how long does it really take to write a simple eHow How To article anyway? Like 10 minutes? 15 minutes tops?
I will be posting income and earnings reports from both eHow and HubPages as I go along, but I wanted to let you know I was starting with it and am really excited to see where it takes me.
I do not recommend writing articles that don’t ultimately lead your readers back to your niche blog or else you are missing out on a lot of extra potential income.
So if you have several niche blogs, write your How To articles around those topics and link to yourself in the resources section. It works beautifully.
Progress Overview

This sounds like a good idea. My only problem is that eHow don’t pay people outside the US
So I’ll carry on with Hubpages. Glad you’ve seen your earnings improving!
I write for both eHow and Hubpages and I think you’ll see a higher return on your efforts at eHow. And, you’re right, the resource links are great for links to your sites or even for affiliate marketing. Good luck. I look forward to your reports.
I write for ehow. You earn more than $1 per month per article. I have earn more than $50 since I started 3 months ago and I have only 7 articles.
I wish you good luck with eHow.
That’s funny. I have 46 articles and have made less than $10 per month for 4 months. That’s usually how things go for me though….
[...] people write for HubPages, eHow and Infobarrel without having a blog of their own (their own online property) to link back to. [...]
I would be very very cautious to invest very much time, and effort, into the eHow platform. Rather than leave you a very long comment about WHY….here is what famous eHow writer, Witergig (author of an eHow eBook and one of the leading contributors/earners there) had to say in one of my articles:

“While it’s important for eHow to maintain a quality library of articles without spammy, promotional, poorly written or fluff pieces, the way in which they are performing article sweeps and deleting some decent articles in the mix while neglecting to respect the writer-members’ feedback on their method is unfortunate. In fact, they are upsetting many of their best writers and most loyal members — never a good idea.” — Writergig
If Alexa trends are any indicator, Info Barrel will become a formidable opponent, in the not-to-distant future…
