Always Stand Behind Your Beliefs

Are you selling yourself out to make money? In the pursuit of a quick buck or the almighty dollar it can be easy to lose focus on what is right and wrong because there are so many “gray areas”.

I come in contact with a lot of internet marketers and have been quite surprised at the moral codes they are willing to bend to make more money. These range from going into chat rooms pretending to be a young girl asking the guys to sign up for a dating site (using his affiliate link) to see “her” photos. To stealing other people’s ebooks off clickbank. To selling products that go against their religious or moral beliefs.

I understand the strong desire to make a living to support your family. However, there are things that are more important than money.

Honesty and Integrity are not things we hear a lot about these days. People striving to live this way are often thought of as “prude” and of course the “nice guy always finishes last” right?

What do you do if someone asks you to work on a project that pays well, but is completely against your beliefs?

This is just a post for you and more importantly for myself to always stand up for our beliefs. Even if that means we miss an “opportunity” or two in the process.

The anonymous nature of being on the internet does not lend itself to the man in the mirror or the man upstairs. Remember that in all your endeavors and business ventures.

I love you all.

P.S. I wanted to share a little video that really uplifts me when I feel a little need for a priority realignment. (It is Christian) -

Timely post, Amy. As Frugal Dad has gotten off the ground I have seen an increase in the number of predatory lenders seeking ad space. I just refuse to put that garbage on my website – even if the money could be put to good use.

Yes, I do affiliate marketing as well and I won’t promote a product or service I don’t use, haven’t read, or don’t think is at least a good idea. I stand by the things I promote. I think if you have conviction and are dedicated to what you do, you’ll have more lasting success.

I don’t like to market or sell things that I am not familiar with, haven’t reaserched and found to be something helpful. In addition I have gotten some luctative Ad offers on another site, which I had to pass up, becuae I I truly don’t belive in it, I couldn’t look my kids in the face. Supporting you family is one thing selling them out is another.

Glad you stand up for your belief. You are an example. Now, people are learning a or two from you.

Wow, what a great blog! I just discovered it from a link in your Warrior Forum signature. I work in the debt-free niche, too, and am a Christian and an internet marketer. I look forward to going through your archives.

Very timely and inspirational post, Amy. The gospel today was about children and here in Cebu, Philippines, it is also the feast day of Sto. NiƱo (the baby Jesus). It does remind me that we are only internet marketers for a short time, but citizens of heaven for eternity.

Great post. I hate it when people lie, scam, cheat and steal trying to make a buck. There are totally honest ways to make money online there is no reason to resort to low down methods. People forget there are more important things in life than money.

    Amy,

I couldn’t agree with you more. I saw several posts on Internet Marketing Forums about the great affiliate commissions people were earning from credit card company referrals. But you and I both know the ill-affects that credit cards can wreak. I’d no sooner advertise them, then I would sell crack (if it were legal). They both can take over people’s lives.

I truly believe that the moral high ground pays a reward in this lifetime as well as the after life. Sayings such as:

    What goes around, comes around.

    You reap what you sow.

His Karma caught up with him.

Are repeated because people believe they have observed this phenomenon.

While people can sometimes seem to profit and not suffer any ill-effects from compromising their morals, I truly believe that in the end, it always catches up with them.

Here’s to your success and all the good Karma you are creating.
