So You Wanna See Me Build a Niche Website?

There have been many readers asking exactly how I build my sites and wanting to see one. In light of that and my son’s recent diagnosis I am going to build a website on Autism and take you along for the ride.

That way you can see what I do, how I do it and what the end result looks like. Stay tuned… I will keep you updated.

The first step is registering a domain name. I just picked up AutisticChild.org

The next step will be for me to get keyword names. I will be doing that tomorrow since I am doing this along my other projects.

Amy, this is a great idea. Us newbies out here are excited to emulate your success. By the way, did you find that hosting sites on Blogger did not work so well. I mean, do you find that URL’s without the .blogspot extension tend to do better with the search engines. Just curious – I’m trying to start this on the cheap.

You could go with a blogspot, but there is a HUGE downside to it. You don’t have ownership of the blog. Blogspot (google) owns it and can delete it at their whim. There have been people who have had hundreds of niche blogs from blogspot deleted out of the blue. Plus, it is not an asset you can ever sell to someone else. I highly recommend you invest the $10 and get hosting at Hostgator so you can host an unlimited number of blogs that will be yours to sell at any time. :)

What a great way to combine both your goals — helping your son and making money. I admire you! I have no doubt that you will attain both goals, and that I will learn a lot while watching you.

This is something that I’ve been so curious about, but if you try to search for it online, you mostly get websites trying to sell something to you. Thanks so much – I’m looking forward to reading this series!

    Amy,

There happens to be a WSO on Autism right now if you wanted to rewrite the articles or outsource them. It’s called “Snitch My Niche #8″ and it just started today I think.

(You don’t have to post this message on your site, I just don’t see anywhere to contact you directly.)

Nice to see someone showing newbies how its done. To many people building any website or putting a blog together is definitely a technical challenge, sometimes beyond many people.

    Merry Christmas,
    Simon
