How to Write an Article That Gets Great Rankings
As you have seen in earlier posts I am building a passive income online currently by making niche websites. I get all of my traffic from Article Marketing and I wanted to share with you the tactics I have found to work best when it comes to writing an article that ranks well.
1. Use your keyword phrase. In this post I showed how I chose keywords to write on. It is important that the exact keyword phrase appears in your article. If it is not in there at all, you wont rank in the search engines for it.
2. Don’t over do it on the keyword. I have found the best keyword density to be once for every 100 words. So if I have a 400 word article I usually put my keyword in there about 4 times. (3 times for a 300 word article). If you put it in there too much it would be considered keyword spamming and your article can actually not rank as well. There is a fine balance here you need to look for.
3. Pay attention to LSI. This is a new ranking technique employed by google called Latent Semantic Indexing. It basically means that google is looking for words in your article that relate to your main keyword to determine if your article is really based on your keyword or not. So if your article was about cooking it would be looking for related for related keywords such as recipes, meals, dishes, etc… Use synonyms of your keywords wherever possible.
4. Pay attention to length. Keep your articles between 350- 500 words. Anything shorter or longer does not tend to do as well from my experiences.

Progress Overview

All great points regarding article-writing. I particularly like the point about keeping keyword usage to a minimum. Sometimes I read an article and keywords are so overused you can tell the only point was to promote on the search engines, to heck with editorial content.
