My Niche Website Creation Process

Step 1. Find a Niche

This is the funnest part for me. Go to eBay pulse, Yahoo Buzz, Google Trends. Find things in magazines, anything to spark your imagination.

Step 2. Get Keywords

Did you know that google will give you all the keywords you need for your niche? I use the google keyword tool here. Type in my niche topic and I can sort it by search volume.

Step 3. Get a Domain Name

I then to go Dynadot and get a domain name (some people use NameCheap, they are also good). I try to go with a keyword as a domain name because it is something people will actually be typing in. Stay away from .info if you want to rank well in the search engines. I go for .com when possible. It is usually taken though, so most of my websites are .net or .org domains.

Step 4. Website Content Articles

I order mine out, but to save money you can write them yourself. I take 20 keywords from the search tool and write an article based on each keyword.

Step 5. Put the website together

You can use plain HTML or you can use wordpress blogs. Wordpress is the easiest if you don’t know HTML coding.

Step 6. Submit the website to the search engines

I sumbit my site to Yahoo, MSN and Google

Step 7. Write two promotional articles

I write and submit two article marketing articles to promote my site

Step 8. Rise and Repeat

My plan is to go back and send out one new promotional article every month for my websites just to keep the promoting fresh.

See it doesn’t have to cost a lot of money. Get hosting at HostGator for $10 a month and host unlimited websites on it. Other than that your only cost is the domain names. Even if you created one or two websites a month you will be able to build a nice income over time.

    Hi Amy,

How many websites do you have? How much money do they make you? Besides adsense, what else produce an income from your sites?

Amy: Do you still use RSS Ground or BANS for building your niche sites? I don’t know how you get it all done with 3 children. Love watching what you do.

I don’t use BANS at all. I was going to, but found a better version. I also don’t use RSS ground anymore either. I use MSIFetch, which is a free version. I cannot get amazon or clickbank feeds but I can use it for ebay feeds. :) I will make a blog post this week explaining how I do it.

Amy, Thank you so much for this post. It really clarified a lot of things for me. Could you explain ‘marketing articles’, please. Do you simply write articles about some of your keywords, or is it an article presented as an advertisement?

By the way, how is your VRE coming?

Have you tried using any niche sites on a free host like blogger? What are the down falls if any.

  8. admin on December 1st, 2007

Ginene, Actually this blog used to be on blogger. The downside is that some people have had their blogs randomly deleted, you do not “own” the blog when it is hosted on a free site.
You can also never sell the blog as you do not really own it. :) I really recommend you get Hostgator for $10 a month and host as many websites/blogs that you want that you have full ownership and control of. :) Amy
