Don’t Put All Your Eggs in One Basket

When building an internet marketing business you need to be sure that you don’t put all your eggs in one basket by depending too much on one income stream. Each website and affiliate program is like a single stock in the stock market. If it goes down you don’t want to lose all your hard work.

A good rule of thumb is to try and not let one income stream (such as adsense) be more than 10-20% (10% is better) of your income. Google has been known to ban the adsense accounts for little if any reason to some people and if this happens to you, you need to at least have a backup plan.

The safest and most reliable income streams are as follows:

1. Selling your own ebook on a website

2. Selling a PLR (Private Label Rights or Resell Rights) Ebook on your Website

3. Selling an affiliate product (Commission Junction, Clickbank, etc…)

4. PPC (Pay Per Click - Adsense, Kontera, etc…)

Always put priority on affiliate programs if you can. This just gives you that extra bit of security when you are building your online virtual real estate empire. Not saying you shouldn’t add any adsense. It certainly helps out, but some people have become too dependent upon it by making websites with only adsense to bring home the bacon.

Even though chances are that you will never lose your adsense account… an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Diversification in your earnings is a must if you want it to be solid.

What sparked me into this mind set was reading this post on Rich Twin Poor Twin about him losing his adsense account and $200k because of it.

I agree! I have had pretty bad luck with adsense anyway…I get about 2 clicks a week on my ads. I will have to try clickbank.

That is the mindset I am working with. I am going to try and start working with PLRs pretty soon. Are there good sites where I can acquire some?

    Amy,

Are you allowed to have multiple AdSense accounts?

That blog that you link to says they can’t see what their losses are because they “cant access all of their accounts”.

Do you know anything about that?

    Thanks!

They are twins so maybe they each have their own account?

    Amy,

I could not find your e-mail. I do a Best of the Best Blog every week and I picked your blog this week.

My question to you is I listed your income & pic., and I want to make sure that is ok with you.

Amy, I have been an avid reader of your blog for awhile now, and I have to say, I am totally lost. I have created 3 blogs, and I created a lens at Squidoo about 3 weeks ago, and I still haven’t gotten my pictures to load. I contacted support several times, to no avail. The lens is useless without photos. I have been posting like a crazy person on MyLot, doing gpt’s, and written a bit for AC and Helium. I am getting NOWHERE fast! It’s so depressing! I have bought a couple of your e-books, and I still have no idea how to come up with articles to write, or content for a niche website. I am on the computer every spare minute I have, to the point where my family thinks it is permanently attached to my lap! lol. I don’t know what to do now. I’m lost…

    Hi Amy

Your site is very inspiring and proves that with hard work it is possible to earn a living online.

Could post a list of the programs you are currently using?
e.g. are you still using rss ground and blogrush?

    Cheers
