Changing Your Template on Your Wordpress Blog

Back to Wordpress Blogs -

Now you that you know how to get hosting set up and ready to install and you have installed your wordpress, we are ready to change our template…

First step is to choose a template. I recommend the SuperAdsense templates. It is the same template I use for this blog and it is really giving me some nice SEO for search engine rankings. I also have the majority of my niche websites set up on the same template.

You will want to get a free program called FileZilla. It is so much easier to upload a template with this than to do it manually. http://filezilla-project.org/

Next you will want to unzip your template file and put it somewhere on your computer where you can find it.

Choose the exact template you want to use and then upload it with FileZilla. Here is a little visual to help you out -

I did however forgot to mention something when I was putting the text on the image. You want to go into your domain folder (that will just be WWW if it is your only domain) then go into WP-Content then go into themes and upload your template there.

After that you will be able to log into your Wordpress Admin, which is normally yourdomain.com/wp-admin

Once you are in there in your admin panel you want to click on Presentation as seen here-

You just need to simply click on your theme from the available themes section and it is activated.

If you have the SuperAdsense theme make sure you go into theme editor after uploading and change the adsense code to yours. Also make sure to change any clickbank info and other things. You can edit the side bars completely to just have your own ads for what ever you want. If needed I can post a step by step post about how to do that.

Amy: All these dozens of niche blogs you have - do you use your own name on ALL of them? I wonder because to the ordinary surfer, one person cannot be an expert on everything. People in IM understand about this because that’s what everyone does. I would not want to lose credibility in my primary niche (for which I have a passion) by trying to be a “dog” expert for example. How do you handle this?

You want to use pen names for different niches. You could even broaden it out. Use a certain pen name for your health sites. A different pen name for your pet sites, etc… that will help you to be seen as a pet expert or a health expert etc…
    Hope that helps. :)

That does help and it was sort of what I was thinking. Of course if anyone wants to check, your paypal account would have the same name on it. Doesn’t matter if it’s all affiliate marketing. How do you plan to handle that when you have more products of your own?

You can have 5 email addresses to one paypal account. I have a really generic email address that I use for my niche sites that can apply to any niche.

Which platform for download of filezilla did you use? Linux or windows? I’m guessing linux because that’s wordpress srandard platform.

    Thanks, Juice

    Admin,

When I upload biz. theme for superAds templates, the control panel (presentation) in WP is showing error because of no style sheet..

I’m doing something wrong in upload when using http://FTP.

    Hello Amy,
I just previewed my new theme in my wordpress-admin, a superadsense theme coincidentally, and at the bottom it displays my URL “provided by My Debt Free Goal”. Why?

You must have got it from my site. :) You are free to edit that out and put your own link. It is not a requirement or anything.
