Amazon Context Links Vs Kontera

I have been testing both income streams on some of my niche websites. Kontera pays per click, but most of the ads are very untargeted. I have been comparing it to Amazon Context Links that are not pay per click, but instead it uses your affiliate link and automatically links to relevant products on Amazon.com

I must say, I have made more than twice as much money from Amazon Context Links than I have from Kontera. I am going to be phasing Kontera off my niche sites and replacing it all with the Amazon Context Links. I highly recommend them. I have found them to convert very well.

The funny thing is that Kontera is on 3/4 of my sites and Amazon Context is only on 1/4 and I made twice as much with Amazon than I did with Kontera. Go figure?

Not sure what I am talking about? It is a link you can get for your website when you are an Amazon Associate. You can sign up by going to Amazon.com and going to the bottom of the page and clicking on “Join Associates.”

I would love to hear your experiences with both programs and which one you think is better. In my opinion, the Amazon links blow Kontera out of the water as far as earnings go.

Just in case it made any difference, I use the dotted underlined links (they give you choices for how the links look).

Thanks for the heads up. I was looking at the Amazon program but wasn’t sure what to do. I’ll give it a shot and see what my difference is and report back.

Wow, that’s impressive. I guess I better get in gear with the Amazon links…

Thanks for the feedback on Amazon’s program. I’ve got that up and running on my website. I’m also using Auction Ads, too. I’ll let you know how that is going as soon as my website is published, it is still a work in progress.

I do have a question, per your recommendation I’m trying Clickbank but I can’t figure out how that works. It just seems to show a “click Here” wherever I put it and you can’t tell what it is. Do I need to introduce the product in text and then add a link or is there a way to make it with images like Amazon’s program adn Auction Ads?

I need to look at Adsense also as I haven’t tried that one yet. I also don’t want to make it too cluttered with ads so I might wait until I get more content.

Thanks for being here. You have been a great help in getting my website started

Amy, is the Amazon context link just like Kontera, in that it is a PPC? I was under the impression it was just a link to a product and required someone to buy before you made money.

Monetizer, Kontera is PPC and Amazon is a link to a product. However, I have earned much more from the Amazon links.

    Hello,

My name is Vered and I am from Kontera.

Kontera’s ContentLinks™ can be easily optimized to better fit each of our publishers’ sites, and thus to generate greater revenues.

If you email me the details of the sites in which you placed the Kontera tag, I’ll be more than happy to have our support team take a look and optimize ContentLink™’s performance.

I am sure you’ll see improved results very quickly.

Thanks Vered, but I am really enjoying Amazon. I figure, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. Even if you were able to help the CTR on Kontera, I still make an average of 10 cents per click while Amazon averages me more than that per click because most people who click end up buying something.

    Amy,
I was just curious as to how you use your links. Do you replace words with links to products randomnly, similar to Kontera, or do you only add a link to amazon when you refer to a specific product. For example, if you happen to use the word money in a sentence would you just link that to a book about money or would you only link to that book if you talk about it in the sentence? Maybe both? I hope you understand what I mean. It’s hard to explain it in a few words. :)
I’m glad you mentioned this because I was wondering it myself.
    Thanks!
    Samantha

I let it link randomly like kontera does. I use the context links. I hope that helps. Thanks, Amy

I placed Amazon’s context code on one of my websites and nothing ever showed up. So I went back with Kontera. Kinda bummed me because I wanted to give Amazon context links a try.

Yep, same for me hope. I put the code in and nothing happened. It only worked for Kontera.
