What Is Your Biggest Fear?

Instead of just talking about online earnings and making money online I wanted to discuss something much more important.

I heard this a long time ago, but just came across it again today and I must say, it really struck me.

“Our biggest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us.

We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented and fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be?

You are a child of God. Your playing small doesn’t serve the world. There’s nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you.

We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”

Marianne Williamson in Return to Love

How many times have you held yourself back from stepping out of your comfort zone and doing something great?

How many times have you not said something you were passionate about or believed strongly in because you were afraid others would judge your words harshly?

This is something I have struggled with a lot in my life. In fact, this blog is the first time I have ever really ‘put myself out there’. However, I know it is something I must do. This post is in particular is really out of my comfort zone, but I need to say it anyway.

I believe we only get once chance here on the earth to really do something great. No, I am not talking about making a million dollars. Having a million dollars does not bring happiness.

I am talking about doing something great for other people. My favorite part of the above quote is the part that says “As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”

Rise as high as you can and bring others with you. We can all do something great. We can all meet our goals and help other to meet theirs in the process.

Don’t sit on the sidelines anymore, take action. Become what you always wanted to be, but were afraid to. Don’t worry about what others will think or what they will say.

Don’t be afraid to stand out and voice your opinion even if it differs from what collective society says you should do, say, think or believe. You never know who you might help by sharing your thoughts and ideas.

Alright, you have gotten enough of my ramblings for the day. I truly hope that somewhere in this post you were able to find something that inspires you to want to be more than what you are and become what you can truly become.

    Amy -

Thank you for putting yourself “out there” with those words. In my opinion, that was your best post yet.

“And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same”

Shine on, girl - you’re doing great!

I personally found this post to be much more important than any of the other ones. Amy, I’m beginning to think that you’re just amazing person all around, not just at making money!
    Keep it up!

Thank you for this, Amy. I used to have a section of the quote in my folder and the bit that stood out for me at the time was ‘it is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us’. I was/am scared of success more than I am of failure.

Anyway, thanks again for this post.

    take care…

Great Post! This reminds me of something I wrote a while back…

    I Am Not You.

Earlier today, I had this moment where everything just went downhill. I wasn’t feeling like myself and the more I thought about things, the more things seemed worse. After a lot of fuck you moments, I realized with a friend’s help that I should not be sitting here allowing myself to think this way. Why should I allow someone else have the pleasure of not letting me be myself. I am who I am and if others do not like me for who I am, then to them, Fuck You.

I have never been one to be harsh or cruel and I never will be, as long as it is not necessary. I cannot let everyone just walk all over me either. That has been the biggest problem in my life. I have this soft heart where I want to help when I can or when I think everything will be better if other people get their way. But then I have to ask myself, what about me? People tend to take others for granted when they shouldn’t. And if they are not taking people for granted, they are trying to control them in some way. I went through this once before. I refuse to go through it again.

It doesn’t mean I am going to be a bitch, go wild and crazy or think about nothing but myself either. It just means people need to stop telling what I can and cannot do with my life. They need to let me be myself. It’s my life and I am living it. Not them. If I am not living my life, where’s the fun in that? Why live someone else’s life. Do what you love and to those you love, simply say: “I love you, but I am not you.”

If people are trying to crush your dreams and hopes, stand up for yourself. Don’t take no for an answer. Who says you can’t own a BMW or an island? Who says you can’t be a female and live on your own? Who says you can’t have Cerebral Palsy and live your life? Who says? Others who have never experienced it? Or those who are just jealous and don’t want you to achieve your dream? It’s your life, reach for the stars!
