What Is A Niche Website
A Niche Website is a little website that targets a topic or keyword that has very little competition.
For example “Dogs” is a very broad keyword and if you typed it into google you would find 268,000,000 competing websites.
So you try to narrow that down a bit more and choose “Dog Training” that is much better with only 4,030,000 competing results, but it is still to saturated to be a good niche.
So you can narrow it down even more to “Great Dane Dog Training” and there is only 2,440 competing results.
Meaning, Great Dane Dog Training can be a good niche website if you wanted to make one because you would easily be able to make the first page of google for that term with very little competition.
The best way to target that niche would be to get the domain www.GreatDaneDogTraining.com or something of that nature. You can order a domain for $5.99 a year from 1and1.
Then you sign up for hosting at HostGator – Unlimited Domain Hosting Only $9.95 a Month
(Actually they lowered this to $7.95!) This only needs to be done once since you can use the same Hostgator account for all of your websites.
Then pick out a free website template at Open Source Web Design. If you were going to go with the dog niche I would choose this one.
After that I use the free HTML editor software from NVU, which can be downloaded here.
From there I simply edit the template with the content I want and then upload it to my hosting account and I have a niche website.
Tomorrow I will explain how to make money from niche websites.
Progress Overview

Thanks for writing about this! I was so lost as to what a “niche” website was!
I’m not sure if you mentioned it or not, maybe I am just confused, but exactly how are you making money through these niche sites? Just through the articles?
Jackie – I will write a post in the morning covering that topic.
Hi Amy, I am so excited to get my new niche website going. This will be great practice for me and help me to get going into this business. Thank you so much all that you have taught me so far and for your patience with me in trying to understand it all. I am going to make this work so I can eventually quit my job. Everyday you amaze me more and more.
I don’t know how you do all of this I am struggling with my first blog http://www.myhusbandcallsitcheapbuticallitfrugal.blogspot.com I never thought it was so hard you inspire me.
Cindy, You will get the hang if it soon enough.
