Total Month Article Writing Earnings as of May 31st: $62.09

Earnings from Blogging as of May 31st

(This covers earnings from both of my blogs combined)

Earnings from Advertisements- $74.81

Earnings from Affiliate Programs- $62.75

To find out the specifics on how I make income blogging check out my post on blogging to earn money.

Total Month Blogging Earnings as of May 31st: $137.56

The problem with the blogging earnings is that the companies usually don’t pay until 60-90 days after the closing of the month. So the blogging income I make in May will be paid to me in July or August. I still plan to count it as earnings for the month though because I did earn it this month. I will just have to wait a while to apply it towards my debt.

Side Jobs Earnings as of May 31st

No side jobs yet. Moving in with in-laws in July when my husband loses his job (he has severe epilepsy). Once we get there we plan to start seeking out side jobs in addition to my online earnings. We gotta do all we can to get this debt cleaned up.

Total Earnings for the month from All Sources as of May 31st: $1,823.14

Debt Report as of May 31st

May Starting Debt: $72,900

Current Debt: $72,802.04

Debt Paid Off So Far This Month: $97.96

Budget for May 15th Paycheck
This is my husband’s pay day and he will be getting a paycheck for $1,000. Realize that he will be losing his job in July and we will no longer have this income coming in at that point. We currently get to live in military housing so we don’t have to pay rent or utilites. This is how we have budgeted to use his paycheck.

May 15th Paycheck- $1,000

Tithe to our church (10%)- $100 (Someone suggested that I cut this in half, but I feel as though this is God’s money and I am just giving him back 10% of what he has given me. Therefore, there will be no budget cuts in this department.)

Groceries for 2 weeks for 5 people- $250

Phone/Internet- $50

OnStar- $15 (I keep this because we live in the middle of the desert and don’t have a cell phone, so if we ever got stranded on the side of the road, i’d need to be able to get some help.)

Household (Diapers, Misc…)- $35

Money for Debt - $550 (Sadly, $500.85 of this payment is being eaten up by interest and only $49.15 is going towards principle)

Notice there is no money here for eating out, entertainment or clothing. We have really restricted ourselves and understand that these are things we cannot afford to spend money on if we are going to have a chance of meeting our goal.

(The $550 payment has been applied and has been reflected in the totals.)

Good luck with your project - you seem so determined - never lose that determination and you will achieve your goal. I have been inspired by your website and have written a small article about it on my blog : http://turnonepoundintoonemillion.blogspot.com/2007/05/inspiring-blog.html

Very challenging project. Have you asked creditors to lower your interest rates? Occasionally one will-worth asking.

I think God would understand if you needed to cut his pay a bit. After you’ve caught up, you can always double his payoff. Just a thought on a way you could add additional money to your principle payment. Good Luck.

Really like your site. And, we will be rooting you on in your quest for debt freedom!!

    God Bless

I don’t know what the debt is from, nor do I want to — but I do know that recently a new program was started by either Armed Forces Bank or Navy Federal (I think AF) where they’ll give you signature loans that may save you some of your interest. I don’t know how high the loan can go, but it might be worth looking into.

Also, have you talked to anyone on base about help with debt consolidation? They may have some decent resources.

Have you looked at Craigslist for other opportunities in your area? You can find some surprising stuff there down in Gigs.

Thank you for your blog. The content is so helpful for me as I’m working on “How to make money online”. I have one question on cashcrate (I’ve visited them trough your link); how can I get pay from cashcrate? HOw can I withdraw from cashcrate with e-gold account?? Thanks, I know keen answer will helps.

  11. Amy Bass on May 15th, 2007

Hendry- CashCrate pays by check and they can send your check to anywhere in the world you live. They don’t use e-gold, sorry.

  12. Hendry on May 15th, 2007

Pardon me, I’m new to this blogging system. I believed I have sent another comment with similar content. Thank you for your quick answer, and it realy is quick and helpful. I know there are millions out there who are now struglling on the same question on “how to make money online” for several different-yet-quite similar reasons. Your blog will help them in some way. Thank you so much. God bless you all the way.

    Hi Amy,

You just shared your link with me on MyLot (I posted about Treasure Trooper paying me) and I want to say “WOW” what a great blog. I’m silently cheering you on from my office here in Southern California. My husband and I are also struggling and finding it hard to make ends meet but you are such an inspiration, seriously.

I have already signed up for CashCrate but have not used it yet. I wonder if I can unsubscribe and then sign up again under you? What do you think? I could use a different email but my personal information would still be the same so I’m not sure if they would be o.k. with that.

I also wanted to tell you that I’ve been paid from Clixsense $15.00 last month - not sure if it’s something you would be interested in or if you are already a member but they do pay. I also belong to a few legit survey sites that you might be interested in. I only do them when I have time but the money adds up.

Good luck to you! I will be back to read your blog on a regular basis. Keep up the great work. I will be praying for you.

    ::hugs::

Diana, Thank you very much. I am not sure if CashCrate would allow you to do that or not. It is always worth asking though. =) I did look at clicksense but decided I didn’t want to spend that much time to only make $15 or so a month. I am trying to streamline and only use the best programs.

I want to second the person that said to stop tithing. Its’ your choice, and technically, God has everything that we have and more. He has the whole Universe. That’s just my 2 cents.
I used to go to a church that required tithing, and there were poor people who were struggling to pay their tithes and bills while the church and pastor was a millionaire.
    Best of luck to you.

  16. Mike Perry on May 22nd, 2007

You seem to be doing well, especially with CashCrate - well done. Good luck with your continued success.
    Mike.

Try Prosper. Been around for years and people basically lend you money. http://www.prosper.com/

I understand God is great and all, but isn’t 10% a bit excessive? I’m sure He understands that people go through tough times and in reality 10% isn’t always feasible. Why make yourself suffer when you can just make it up when you don’t have 73,000 in debt hanging over your head. Don’t wanna be blunt, but something’s gotta give.

  18. NancyHa on May 26th, 2007

I say keep up with tithing. All my married life we’ve paid 10% plus offerings. We’ve been very poor, and now we’re rich . . . yet still in debt . . . so that’s why we’re on the DR plan. Blessings are priceless and that’s what you get from tithing.

Congratulations for your site. I really enjoyed it, because I found many new sites to join. Thanks for posting this.

For long distance, I don’t know if you have a package deal, but if you don’t, I use enjoyprepaid.com to get 2.9 cents a minute or less for long distance.

For making progress on debt and not have interest eat you alive, if you have good credit, Prosper.com might work in your favor for consolidating your debt. I am a lender there.

I am very much inspired by your blog.

If your husband is losing his job due to a physical disability, can’t he collect some sort of monthly disability payments? I know actually getting the payments is an uphill battle, but I hope he applies soon.

Good luck to you. You are doing great! :-)

  22. April on May 29th, 2007

You probably will never know how much you are encouraging others by the way you are living. Thank you. Keep your blinders on! You are doing so well, if you can do this you can do anything!! My sister told me the other day that my goal to pay cash for our next car is impossible. Well, she is the same one who told me I would never use the jogger stroller that I bought and I use it everyday. You can do what others say is impossible!!

  23. Katherine Huether on May 30th, 2007

Good luck! I am familiar with Ramsey’s program. I have not followed it, but I enjoy listening to his radio show and I know that he’s helped a lot of people. You’re doing great so far. Thanks for the inspiration!

Thanks for sharing your blog! This is full of hope and inspiration. Good luck, you are doing great!

If your husband is active duty Army, he should be getting disability pay- push for all you can. I’m sure he can’t drive, he should be entitled to 100 percent disability retired pay. That’s tax free. Make him push for it!!! Good luck.

  26. Amy Bass on June 4th, 2007

I will get the check posted up as soon as I get it. =)
I get paid for May earnings in mid-June.

Good Luck with your debt reduction Project, we have a similar plan in place but we are not seeing the results you are getting. Keep us posted and inspired that we can do it to.

If any of your debt is on credit cards, call them and ask for a lower rate. I have done it, and it really works. You may need to use the guise of “I’m cancelling the account with the highest rate, and right now that’s you - can you offer me something lower?”
Also, I wanted to let you know that I signed up for Cash Crate under your referral. I hope it helps you out with your goal :)

  29. Anonymous on June 23rd, 2007

Amy, I think your motivation is just great, and I’m amazed at how well you’ve done so far.

“I think God would understand if you needed to cut his pay a bit.”

I find it very disturbing and sad that everyone thinks the all-powerful God would need “his pay” and the money of poor people or any people in the first place. It doesn’t sound very ethical to me at all.

    Anyway, keep on truckin’.

    Amy,

Great blog, and thanks for posting about all of the opportunities! i will definately check them out.

My wife and I just completed Dave Ramsey’s Financial Peace university, and I can definately say it made a difference in our lives! We didn’t have a lot of debt, but you might check out some of his ideas for budgeting, etc.

God bless and keep it up!

Wow, $1500+ from cashcrate in your first month? It took a couple of hours for me to complete a few surveys for $4.00. How did you do it?
