GPT Troubleshooting

If you are following all the tips I listed on the CashCrate and Fairy Tale Treasures pages and are still having trouble getting your offers to clear, here are some suggestions.

Reasons why your offers may not be clearing:

-Your computer does not accept cookies.

This is very important. Cookies are little files that are put to your computer by the websites that you visit. They follow what you do on those websites, and in the case of GPT programs, they report back to the advertiser’s server when you have completed an offer.

So if your computer does not allow cookies to function, the advertiser does not know when you have completed the offer.

To see if you can accept cookies, check the privacy settings in Internet Explorer. Internet Explorer seems to work the best with these programs.

Click Tools, then Internet Options, then the Privacy tab. You should see a slider bar. Drag the slider bar so it displays Accept All Cookies as your privacy setting. Then click the Advanced tab and UNCHECK “Override automatic cookie handling”, if it is checked.

You will also want to check and make sure that if you have any virus protection programs such as McAfee, Norton, Symantec, etc, or spyware protection software such as Spy Sweeper, that these programs are not blocking third-party cookies. Check the help files of your particular program to learn how to turn off cookie blocking.

-You have already filled out similar offers (or the same offer) on another site.

Some types of offers limit how many similar offers you can complete - such as surveys from the same network group.

If you have already completed similar offers on another site, or have completed the same offer on another site, you may not be able to get credit for it again. You can try, but don’t expect all of the to clear if you had done it somewhere else before.

Also, some survey companies only allow a certain number of surveys to be filled out per physical address or phone number.

-You are using an email address with banned words.

You should NOT use any email address that has the word “spam” or any obscenities in it.

-You are using Netscape, Firefox, or the AOL browser

Most people recommend using Internet Explorer - some people have had success with Firefox, but IE is recommended. Netscape and the AOL browser are NOT recommended and you may have problems with your accounts if you use them. I have used firefox and had things clear for me, but it can cause issues with some offers.

-Your computer is on a firewalled or protected network.

If you are using a computer on a network (such as a work or public computer) you may be behind a firewall that you are not aware of which is blocking cookies. Only use personal computers.

-You are using a dial-up accelerator

Using a dial-up accelerator will cause a lot of issues with trying to get offers to clear. Most of the time you will not be able to access the sites at all.

If you can, it will often get in the way of crediting because it alters your IP address such that the advertiser cannot track it. Do not use a dial-up accelerator while doing offers and surveys.

-You have already clicked on the offer several times, either on this site or another, or have completed a large number of related offers in a short time span. OR You are using a form filling program.

The advertisers are trying to prevent fraud by limiting the number of times that a single IP address can get credit for related offers. This is to ensure that people cannot simply use bot programs to fill out surveys for them.

It may also be advisable to not use a form-filling program such as RoboForm - the speed at which you go through pages is also a factor used in determining whether the survey was filled out by a real person or not.

Does the browser you used really affect the rate of acceptance? From my experience I had better chance of being accepted when I used Firefox than IE

But you know better so I’ll follow your advice :)
